Le banche prestano per la transizione. Ma ognuna fa domande diverse
Banks are lending for the transition. But each asks different questions
More ESG credit and climate stress tests from 2027: a common method would spare SMEs filling in the same questionnaire three times.
L'obiettivo è superare i 750 milioni entro dicembre.
Banks have the money for the transition. And they are already lending it.
Credem lent €370 million in ESG financing to businesses in the first half of the year, plus €82 million in green leasing for solar, electric vehicles and efficient buildings. The goal is to pass €750 million by December.
On the other side, supervisors are raising the bar. The 2027 EBA stress test for European banks will include a climate module covering transition and physical risk, with specific attention to floods.
In short: more credit for the transition, but sharper questions for companies on emissions, climate exposure and plans.
Yet today each bank asks its own questions, and an SME working with more than one bank may have to fill in different questionnaires for the same data.
Has the time come for the banking system to adopt a common ESG methodology for assessing credit applications?
